Evolution of Discovering the Blindfold

This painting is close to completion – she’s just waiting for the paint that I ordered online to get here.  In the mean time I thought everyone would enjoy seeing how Discovering the Blindfold, a part of My Dreams Are Blue series, has evolved over the course of these last couple of weeks.  When I started there was just a hint of the back of a woman’s head, which I have kept throughout the many applications of paint – as dreams by their nature are ephemeral. The subject of this painting has discovered she is wearing a blindfold…reminiscent of one of my favorite quotes from Dune by Frank Herbert “I’ll miss the sea, but a person needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing him to grow. Without change something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken.
